12 Faces is a year long project that brings together 12 photographers from the uk and usa.

Starting on 1st July 2008 each of the 12 photographers will take it in turn to set an assignment for the group. The assignment can be a word, a poem, an instruction, a song, a painting, a photograph, anything that may inspire a portrait photograph.

All 12 photographers then have one calendar month to produce one portrait
photograph in response.

By the end of the year each photographer will have 12 portraits. The idea is that all members of the project will submit at least one of their portraits to the 2009 National Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery, London.
